Anomalous origin of the left main coronary artery from the main pulmonary artery in a young adult.

چکیده
A23-year-old man who had had cardiac murmurs since childhood experienced heart arrest during exercise. Cardiac resuscitation and cardioversion of ventricular fibrillation rescued the patient. Subsequent work-up showed that the patient’s left coronary artery arose from the main pulmonary artery. Transesophageal echocardiography showed aneurysmal dilatation of the left coronary artery, which arose from the posterior aspect of the main pulmonary artery (Figures 1–3). Under hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegic arrest, the cuff of the left coronary artery orifice was excised and reimplanted into the ascending aorta. The patient was discharged 6 days after the operation.

Different Presentation of Anomalous Origin of the Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery in Adults: Case Reports
Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital cardiac malformation. We report three cases of ALCAPA who survived to adulthood. The first case was a 51-year-old woman who complained of typical chest pain that was diagnosed with ALCAPA using cardiac catheterization and coronary computed tomographic angiography (CTA). The second case was a 30-...
متن کاملThe Anomalous Origin of the Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery (ALCAPA): a Case Series and Brief Review
Background Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare congenital cardiovascular defect that occurs in approximately 1/300 000 live births or 0.5% of children with congenital heart disease. There are two types of ALCAPA syndrome: the infant type and the adult type. The most infants experience myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure, and approximately 9...
متن کاملAnomalous Right Coronary Artery from Left Main Coronary Artery and Subsequent Coursing between Aorta and Pulmonary Trunk
Anomalous origin of left main coronary artery or right coronary artery from the aorta with subsequent coursing between the aorta and pulmonary trunk is rare and can be sometimes life threatening. After hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, coronary artery anomalies are the second most common cause of sudden cardiac deaths among young athletes. This is a case presentation of an anomalous origin of right ...

Coronary Artery To the Editor: The echocardiographic images of the anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the main pulmonary artery presented by Lin et al1 are very instructive. But I disagree with the statement the authors made in the legend of their Figure 3 that “Turbulent flow from the main pulmonary artery through the orifice to the left coronary artery is evident.” In anomalous...
متن کاملCongenItal Anomallous Origin of Left Anterior Descending Artery from RIight Coronary Artery
Congenital anomalies of the coronary arteries have been a known subject since the advent of cardiac angiography, and has been a subject of special interest by both cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, We have tried in this article to present a case of anomalous origin of LAD from RCA (RMT) in a 55 year old lady (Mrs. B.J.) and to completely discuss this subject. It's worthmentioning that thi...
متن کاملCongenital Absence of Left Circumflex Coronary Artery
Congenital absence of left circumflex artery is a rare congenital anomaly of the coronary arteries. The prevalence of the anomaly in different studies ranges from 0.6% to 1.3%. Of these, 80% are benign and asymptomatic and 20% are clinically important. We report a 56-year-old man presented with acute resting chest pain who was diagnosed as having acute anterolateral infarction accompanied by el...
